5 Exquisite Lace Jewelry Pieces on Etsy from Sappho by Kim Smiley!

Today we're featuring an amazing Etsy shop, Sapphô by Kim Smiley, which offers extremely intricate lace jewelry.

The owner of the shop, Kim, uses her company as a social enterprise and for the public good. She hires marginalized women in Toronto, trains them and pays them a living wage of $18 hour to make her designs.

Kim is empowering women to break the cycle of poverty through creativity. She is also using the company, after its name suggests (Sappho was a famous ancient Greek poet) to promote poetry - to demystify it and make it accessible.

As for her inspiration? Kim says that she is most inspired by the delicate, intricate femininity of lace as a canvas for jewelry, integrated with precious metals and gems, handmade, hand sewn - no two creations are the same. Her company uses lace and vintage objects from as early as the 1800s (a detail that I personally love best!).

Her store is filled to the brim with luxurious jewelry offerings - below I have listed my top 5 favorites!

Extremely exotic and highly detailed, this breastplate necklace is on my dream wishlist to own! I don't know how I would personally style this piece (especially since my favorite go-to item in my wardrobe is yoga pants XD ), but I think I could find any excuse to be able to wear this lovely statement piece out and about in my small town.

Made of London blue topaz, garnet and peridot, this extravagant accessory is probably one of the most beautiful that I've ever been able to feature.

Want, want, want!!!

Another one of my top favorites from this shop is this lovely smokey quartz and tourmaline lace choker. At least where I live, you really don't see many unique necklaces like this, and there's especially nothing as beautifully handmade as this available.

So gorgeous! This item on our list is a lovely handcrafted cuff bracelet made of metallic lace and thread.

I really like the ocean blue Swarovski crystal embellishments, they really make the design pop!

These exquisite lace earrings have smokey quartz and peridot embellishments - I really love large earrings, and sometimes it's hard to find something that appears "delicate", but is not a tiny earring. With the lace design and light bronze coloring, these earrings meet both of those qualities that are normally difficult to find.

Did I mention that I love breastplate necklaces? XD

I know that I have featured one already in this list, but I just love the design! This one has a lavender quartz necklace strand and the actual breastplate portion has numerous gemstones, including chalcedony, tourmaline, aquamarine, rutilated quartz, moonstone and rose quartz.

So eloquent!

I asked Kim what inspired her to choose Etsy as one of her selling platforms for her gorgeous items, she stated:

"Etsy is an amazing community of artists and I was seeking inspiration, community, connection and of course customers who would cherish my creations - we call them wearable works of art."

Your items are works of art indeed!
For the future, Kim hopes that Sappho by Kim Smiley will exist across the world, lifting women to positions of self-sufficiency through the creation of art that makes other women feel beautiful.

A bridal line is soon to be unveiled for this shop, and a men's line as well. I wish you much success and happiness Kim!
