10 Amazing & Rustic Photos of the United States from lostkatphotography on Etsy!
Today, we have an Etsy spotlight post for a lovely photography shop! Allow me to introduce lostkatphotography!
Run by Katya from Moab, Utah, this shop mainly consist of eloquent, gritty travel photography from around the United Stated, the United Kingdom, Argentina and Mexico. Katya has been traveling full time with her cats since late 2009 in the United States,
but has lived in Argentina, has friends in Mexico and family in the United Kingdom.
Her store is split into many different sections, depending on the geographical location of the photos within. I want to showcase some of my favorites, starting with her photos from the New Orleans and the Deep South.
This lovely Celtic cross is a well maintained headstone in Louisville, Kentucky.

This image is of an antique doorway in the famous French Quarter of New Orleans!

Say "hello!" to the swamplands of the Louisiana Bayou. This is incredibly haunting, yet beautiful.

This astoundingly unique photo is actually the bowels of an Alabama factory. Katya explained the origins of this amazing image below:
"I wandered into an old factory in Alabama and came across such
mechanical and industrial beauty that words could not describe. I'm glad
I have these photos to remember how beautiful, unconventional looking,
and necessary factories can be."

The next section I want to highlight is her photos from the Northern US and Canada.
This was one of the first pictures that just took my breath away - Katya took this photo of the female alpha wolf at a nature center. Just gorgeous.

Rustic and abandoned, Katya photographed this old farm house while traveling the countryside in Ohio.

This ancient tree's roots have been exposed by years of beach erosion on a glacial lake in Montana. What an epic photo!

The last section that I want to cover is her photo collection from the Southwest US and Mexico. Take a look!
This amazing photo was taken in a destroyed trailer in Southern California, near the Salton Sea. This bathroom, in it's heyday, was of a pink 1950' design.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Speaking of the Salton Sea, if you're a fan of the area, then you'll love this photo of these elegant trees in the Salton Sea.
This image is rare for many reasons - first, the trees you see in the image above no longer have water surrounding them, and haven't for years. This is one of the last images of these lovely trees reflecting in water. Second, the film is cross processed and was shot with a professional quality medium format camera giving is a unique look.
Last, but certainly not least, is this image of a makeshift room in an abandoned highway motel in the Southern California desert.
Ironically, the bed frame is a white picket fence, part of the cliched requirements for the "American Dream".
For the future, Katya hopes to make her Etsy store her main income, so that she can just focus on taking photos, and possibly teaching others.
Katya, your photos are some of favorites on Etsy - I wish you the greatest of happiness and success!
