Awesome Handmade Poker Decks and Zines from Poker Brothers on Etsy!
This Etsy store spotlight is for Poker Brothers! This great store offers handmade poker decks and zines. I had the pleasure of interviewing Matthew, one of the shop's owners, for this post.
Like many other popular Etsy stores, Poker Brothers is a family owned and operated collective. Poker Brothers has had great customer experiences on Ebay, but they are now excited to offer their items on Etsy as well. To their advantage, they have an immense amount of customer service experience due to their day job, which is running a family daycare.
Some of the first items that caught my attention from their store are their lovely handmade poker decks. The first edition (pictured below) is one of my favorites!
This deck of cards includes many popular culture images such as The Godfather, Game of Thrones, Escape From New York, Breaking Bad, Johnny Depp, The Walking Dead, Star Trek, District 9, Mohammed Ali, Full Metal Jacket, The 3 Stooges and many more.
Personally, I love the stylized poker deck case and the unique coloring and design of the poker deck cards. The popular culture references are just an awesome bonus to an already great product!

This particular poker deck is known as "DÃa de los Muertos", or "Day of the Dead". This deck was made in remembrance of the creator's grandmother, Grandmother Margaret Espinoza.
As you can see, this deck has been filled with many beautiful photographs, paintings and drawings that honor this holiday (you'll see a lot of skull themed imagery throughout).
As with the previous poker deck, you will receive this awesome stylized acrylic case to protect your cards!

Along with the amazing, handmade poker decks that they offer, Poker Brothers also offers zines! That part of their company is called the Funnel and Moxie Zine Factory.
The profits from that have gone into a vending Machine (also known as The ZINE MACHINE) that they now sell art out of on the Whittier College Campus, in California.

This extremely cool package of artwork consists of original drawings and is made from archival non toxic professional grade art materials. It looks hazardous but its not harmful!

With the proceeds from their store, the Poker Brothers family wants to fund the education education of Rosemary Rodela, who is the first born girl in the Poker Brothers Family.
For the future, Poker Brothers plans to collaborate with six other artists so that they can get their start selling on Etsy as well. As for the Poker Brothers store, Matthew stated that they have a stockpile of art that they've been selling on Venice Beach for years; it is soon going to be available in-store! That is super exciting, and I wish you all the best of luck and success with Etsy!
