New Items in our Store! - Ethiopian Neon Chaff Fire Opal Necklace

This spotlight post is for one of our greatest and most beautiful new items - our Ethiopian neon chaff fire opal necklace!

This item was completely constructed my father and mother, who hand picked the opal cabochon and placed it into the rose gold setting by hand. This is a very long and tedious process, as one wrong move can break either a prong or the stone itself.

The exquisite 12x10mm Ethiopian neon chaff fire opal cabochon was mined from the famous Welo mine in Africa. This opal rates a 5/5 on the brightness scale! This opal shows a bright crisp mirror-like play-of-color under sunlight or spotlight and often seems even brighter in subdued light. This opal has a gorgeous honey colored matrix, which is why it has that lovely warm color throughout the stone.

The opal is 2.67 carats, and as can be seen in the photos, has an array of colors when shown in the light. The chain is a popcorn chain and is 18 inches long. The setting and chain are both 18K rose gold over sterling silver.

The Welo opal is totally untreated; it has not been smoked, dyed or chemically treated. All components of this necklace are nickel free, so it is friendly to those with nickel allergies!

In order to have a better idea of what the opal looks like in person, here is a picture of this exact stone, prior to it being placed into its setting by my parents. The chaff pattern is so gorgeous!
