Etsy Is Testing New Shipping and Handling Features!
Etsy has new shipping upgrades in testing! According to Ina Steiner's new article on Ecommercebytes.com (link to article below), Etsy is now testing their website for a way for store owners to add shipping and handling upgrades, so that our customers may have the option to choose different shipping methods, including express options.
Although I don't offer this in my own store, I've seen many other Etsy store owners offer their customers the option to purchase a "shipping upgrade" to their package. With this additional amount of money added to their order, those who need the package faster are able to purchase this very easily; however, there is a catch. This type of shipping upgrade is currently against Etsy's TOU, which is why I don't currently offer it.
According to Steiner's article, Etsy shop owners who are interested in this new option can join the new "Shipping Upgrades" team on Etsy. By joining this team, you become included in the prototype and are able to discuss the pros and cons of the new shipping upgrades feature. For those who really need this feature, this is a great opportunity to give Etsy the feedback they need while the feature is still a prototype.
Personally, I think I'm going to wait this out until all of the bugs and kinks are worked out. I don't have any huge demand for express shipping at this time, and since I still work full forty hours a week (plus go to college), this is beneficial, as it's definitely less stressful!
